I was considering this month's article and contemplated the subject. I realised I wanted to know what how others questions may be. I have my own practice to help me practice my MS but as part of my teacher training I have been researching how others use yoga to battle this symptom.
I discovered Eric Small and his book “yoga for Multiple Sclerosis” It became clear that this man and I share a vision and goal. He may discovered some techniques that I will want to use, and incorporate into my practice. Link to Eric's web http://www.yogams.com/Book.shtml
"Yoga questions?
Do you have any yoga questions?
Do you have a particular painful or frustrating symptom that you would like to manage?
Would you like to try yoga?
Eric Small had some questions and below I share my response...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eric Small:What sequences you are using for fatigue?
My response: http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/sequence_builder/ I use to structure my sequence ideas. Normally I start with some deep yogic breathing and different stretches as I lie in the corpse pose. At the moment I am sponge absorbing information that others share and using what I feel is appropriate for my own practice and the practice for my other MS friends.
Eric Small: Do you have sequences for those students that are in wheelchairs?
My response: I attend yoga for MS class at http://www.specialyoga.org.uk/ Christine, my tutor is working to help me develop my skills. Every other Thursday I attend a group for people with MS in the Croydon area. I have friends that are confined to a wheelchair, all of whom are very aware of my passion for yoga and my belief that it can help anyone, no matter how disabled a person may be. I am training to get a qualification as a yoga teacher and be more able to give appropriate guidance.
Eric Small: Do you have sequences for those students that are dealing with the effects of various drugs and the combination of drugs?
My response: I am designing my practice but conscious that everybody’s experience of Multiple Sclerosis is different. There is a whole menagerie of symptoms that can be experienced as part of MS. My intention is to treat each person as an individual and discuss their needs.
Eric Small: I am also curious as to your training and how long you have been studying, and who was your mentoring teacher.
My response: I am about to start my yoga training with the http://www.theyogaacademy.org/level1.html
Eric Small: Have you used my book as a reference.
My response: I have completely my pre-course reading, and researched other useful literature to this list. I have ordered your body and currently am awaiting delivery.
